We’ll share any casual group plans — hikes, lake swims, etc. — closer to the weekend. For anyone exploring on their own, here are a few of our favourite hikes, floats, and rides around Banff + Canmore.

Hiking + Walking

A few of our favorites, from easy walks to not so easy!

  • Ha Ling in Canmore

    Short, steep, and classic. Big views over Canmore + the Bow Valley.

  • Lady MacDonald in Canmore

    Very difficult, very worth it. Amazing views of Canmore and Bow Valley.

  • Cory Pass in Banff
    
Long and difficult. One of the best local hikes, with views of the mountains past Norquay.

  • Stoney / Stoney Squaw in Banff
    
Easy to moderate local hike at Mt. Norquay up Stoney Lookout Trail.

  • Tunnel Mountain in Banff
    Easy to moderate in-town hike with classic Banff views.

  • Sundance Canyon in Banff

    Easy local walking trail, starting at Cave and Basin. You can tour the cave, and hike as little or as much as you like toward the canyon.

  • Johnston Canyon in Banff

    Beautiful and easy canyon boardwalk. Very popular, so expect crowds.

  • Via Ferrata at Mt. Norquay

    Assisted rock climbing with different difficulty levels. Super fun and right at our wedding venue. Discount available with the Irwin / Wenzel wedding. available with the Irwin / Wenzel wedding.

Mountain Biking

  • Canmore Nordic Centre
    Over 100 km of trails, from easy dirt roads to advanced single-track. Trail Sports is on-site for rentals, repairs, lessons, and guided tours.

  • Mountain Bike Skills Park
    Dirt jump bike park at the Nordic Centre with dirt jumps, bridges, drops, skinnies, wall rides, etc.. Free!

  • Goat Creek Trail
    Scenic mountain bike route from Canmore to Banff.
